    1966 Brake Bleeding problem

I am having difficulty bleeding the brakes on my 66. Below is a history of what I have done.

1.) Installed Stainless Sleeved Calipers about ten years ago.
2.) Rebuilt the master cylinder at the same time.
3.) Bleed brakes with no issues
4.) Drove the car a total of 1,500 miles in the next eight years with no brake issues.
5.) The car was not driven the last two years
6.) The car was removed from storage this summer
7.) The first time I drove it after removal from storage I had a soft pedal
8.) Removed and inspected the master cylinder and found the bore pitted.
9.) I had White Post sleeve the Master Cylinder
10.) Bench bleed and installed the rebuilt M.C. and attempted to bleed the brakes using the pump method
11.) I could get all of the bleeders clear with the exception of the right rear outer.
12.) Gravity bleed the R.R. outer and got it to run clear.
13.) Drove the car and within 3 miles and five to six applications of the brakes the pedal was soft again.
14.) Bleed brakes once again and found air in the R.R. outer.

Any ideas what is causing this?

Sorry, I just couldnt resist. Most likely you will have to kit the caliper it full of crud.

Or, what I've heard from Corvette brake rebuilders is that previously sleeved units that leak or have air (like yours) usually have bad seals. As Wayne noted, 1500 miles in 8 years followed by 2 years of sitting did the seals in. For low-usage Corvettes, I recommend going with O-ring style seals such as those sold by Vette Brakes. They don't have this problem, and you essentially eliminate any chance of it occurring again.

Michigan winters are REALLY long! Thanks for the response; I guess I'll be pulling the caliper this week.

Tell me about it. I'm on the west side in Holland. Thankfully the winter is a great time to work on the cars.
