1969 L-46 temp and timing questions

I had my L46 (69 350/350) redone about 2 years ago. The sending unit they used did not let me read the temp - I believe it was for a warning light.

I finally replaced it yesterday. I am getting a reading of about 225 degrees. Is this normal in the C3s? If not, what can I do to help lower this?

Another question is in regards to the timing:
What should the timing be set at?
    At what RPM?
What should the Dwell be set to?
SHould the vacuum advance be connected or disconnected.

My manual said it would be on the sticker on the inside of the hood. It is not there anymore.

    Any comments would be great
    thanks

    Paul----

I think that your temp sender calibration is off. I'd look for a GM #1513321 if you can find one. They're discontinued, but there are still some around. Also, look through the scrap yards for any 57-78 Chevrolet WITH GAUGES; it will have the temp sender you need.

Your L-46 should be set at 4 degrees initial advance with the vacuum advance line removed, Idle RPM should be 750 RPM and dwell should be 28-32 degrees.

You can obtain a replacement emissions sticker (with timing/idle specs) from any of the Corvette vendors. This sticker mounts on the upper firewall surface behind the master cylinder.
