    Engine serial number

I have a 1960 Built Nov. of 1959. I was told that vin numbers didn't start being put on engine blocks until after Jan. 1960. Anyone know if thats true, and if so, what should be on a 270hp 4 spd. built in Nov? Don

    Re: Engine serial number

According to the NCRS Pocket Spec Guide, it should have a stamp reading like this:

    F(m)mddCU,

where "m" is the month and "d" is the day it was assembled

      Yes It's True

Vin derivatives started showing up in early January of 1960. The first examples were hand stamped using one-off numerics. Looks like an amateur job.
