Is there any differences between a 61 and a 62 frontend? I am looking at a orginal passenger fender and inner fender. I am wondering if it will match up to my 62 driver side and front. Will it fit? What is the difference? I am trying to find an orignal fender for the car.
In 1961 a smack-chromed molding outlined the cove area of both sides of the car. The fiberglass under the area concealed by the molding was rather flat and un-defined. In 1962 the moldings were eliminated and high definition ridges in the fiberglass came into being. The fenders are NOT interchangeable however there is no difference in the inner fenders.
Also, in 1961 there were three spear moldings on either side of the car located in the cove area plus trim emblems. In 1962 this was all redesigned. Holes appear in 1961 fenders that won't accomodate 1962 trim and vice-versa.
Thats right. I forgot about the molding that runs on the side of the fender. I was looking at the corvetteimage catalog. They list both 58-61 and 62 on different pages. Their catalog is not very descriptive. I was thinking I could bring them into the 21 century with a redesigned cataloged. The pictures are are just drawings.
