I don't, but I hope that someone comes up with a fix soon. The 78-82 instrument cluster (tach and speedo) printed circuit is long-since discontinued and not reproduced, as far as I know. Sooner or later, just about all the 78-82s will require one as heat and age take their toll on these.
The 77-82 instrument cluster (center console gauges) printed circuit is still available under GM #25015147 (for a current GM list price of $214.49). For how much longer, who knows? And, most 77-82s will eventually require one of these, too.
Even if someone comes up with a fix for existing printed circuits that won't solve most of the problems. The thing that usually deteriorates is the substrate material. When that occurs, the circuit is irreparable.
I am not familiar with this circuit board, but is it like a traditional circuit board with the copper traces on a flexible board and then coated? If so, then just scratch the coating on the broken copper trace and solder on a 18-20 guage wire jumper.
The problem is that the substrate material is not like conventional circuit boards. It's a very thin, flexible mylar-like material that I do not believe will withstand the heat of a soldering iron.
Yes you can solder on them but you need to be good! This repair I need to do is not a canidate for soldering. I can't see how this board would be expensive to manufacture. I'll let you know how the defoster repair kit works.
As for prolonging the life of a good board. Laminate it. One or both sides. Go to kinkos or the like and buy picture/divers lic. laminate. That would slow down the aging process.
