fixing screw holes

My '61 door panels are hanging by a thread. How can I "fill" the holes in the fiberglass so the screws hold?

Al Knoch sells a door panel screw hole repair kit #dsk131125 for
somewhere around $27 but I am not sure what comes with it.

Richard, there are 3 basic means that almost everyone uses:
1. Fiberglass up the holes and re-drill.
2. Pop rivet metal plates to the door and screw into the plates.
3. Drill out rhe holes and use plastic anchors.

Glassing up the holes is the most time consuming and offers the greatest chance odf having the holes fail again. Regards John McGraw

I have used a bunch of the little metal plates that pop rivet over the hole. They seem to be a fairly easy and permanent repair.

There is alos the possibility of using larger screws. You can buy, for example, #10 screws with a #8 head. The Vette vendors sell them, but you can also get them from fastner companies a lot cheaper.

If all you are looking to do is get the screws tight, I have, in the past, taken a ordinary paperclip stolen from work and hooked it into the screw hole. Trim off the extra wire, and the screw will tighten right up.
