Want to make sure I'm reading the timing tab corre

Duke was kind enough to send me the directions for a cold adjustment of a 3030 solid lifter cam.
Since the procedure requires knowing when you're at 90, 180 degrees etc., I decided to buy a timing tape for the balancer.

Before I start this excercise I want to be sure I'm reading the timing tab correctly.
The tab has a square edge on the drivers side and is tapered at the passenger side. At the drivers end there is a stamped 0 and a stamped A at the other end.

Is the edge of the tab on the drivers side "0" (TDC) and eatch mark is 1 degree, or the first mark "0"

    Thanks,

    Gary-----

The degree mark to the left of the "O" represents the TDC point. Since there are several degree marks "sort of" to the left of the "O", the one that I'm talking about is the "long" degree mark, not the "short" ones. Marks "above" the TDC point represent advanced timing settings (BTDC); mark below represent retarded timing settings (ATDC). All of the marks represent 2 degrees, not 1 degree.

The "0" is TDC of #1 and #6 and the "A" is ten degrees advance and each hash mark it 2 degrees as Joe said. Also, be sure the timing tape you bought was for the 8" balancer as was OEM on SHP/FI engines. Wrapping the tape around the balancer before you take of the backing paper should tell you if it's correct as 360 and zero should coincide.
