I want to clean the tach/speedo and other gauge surfaces while I have the cluster apart in my '66. I don't want to destroy the number/lettering. Can someone offer some advice.

-------The guage faces on most all mid-year clusters are pretty hardy.I have used windex and other assorted mild cleaners with no bad results whatsoever.Remember to get the concave lenses in the right way.Cant tell you how many times Ive seen them in backward............Bill S -

Todd: When I did mine I just used water after dusting with a brush from the spouse's make up kit (actually I went and bought one just like the one in her stash). Then wiped gently with endust on a soft cotton towel. I believe the endust will eliminate static charges that attract dust particles. I first did the clock when I rebuilt it about 3 years ago and it looks every bit as good today as the rest of the gauges I did this winter. It could be that these finishes are hardy, as Bill suggested, but I didn't want to take chances with something amonia based. Those gages will only be original once. I did use windex on the glass lenses and then applied end dust there as well.Comment
