I am in the process of verifying numbers and codes on my 1967 convertible. Where can I find the frame number- I believe it is passenger side main frame rail toward the rear- but where- inboard, outboard, do I need to remove anything ?
It's on the driver's side frame rail. It's on the TOP surface of the frame rail APPROXIMATELY between the welded-on crossmember behind the differential crossmember and the #4 body mount. It is difficult to see inasmuch as the body is very close to the frame at this point. You will need to thoroughly clean the area with a small brush and then use a mirror to see it. Even then, it will be difficult. It was DESIGNED to be difficult to access.
Mike,
The frame is marked/stamped in 2 locations with the serial# on my 67.
The first location is under the drivers door about 12 inches ahead of the #3 body mount location (literally impossible to see with the body on). The second location is adjacent and just forward of the left side #4 body mount. As Joe said its a tight squeeze to see it. Good luck.
