    Hot Frame Question

    Noooooooo it's not stolen!

I heard from a friend who heard from a friend who heard a rumor from another friend that there was a 69 big block four speed chassis sitting behind a garage that might be for sale.

Hmm. I did a little bit of snooping and sonofagun if it was true!

The delema I have is that the car was in a garage fire that melted the body off of the chasis.

Now I have not seen this critter yet, but am wondering just how much heat a chasis can take before it is structurally un-fit.

I can handle the obvious signs ie. twisting, warping, thin spots etc, but what if it does not exhibit these signs? Are there other tell tale traces that can tell me if this is a waste of money or not?

The guy states that the car only had 28,000 on it and the power plant and tranny are still in it.

    Appreciate the feed back.

    Re: Hot Frame Question

In the construction business I have seen structural engineers look at a building that had a fire in it. They look for deformation of the steel. No deformation no structural problem. I would think a car frame would be the same thing.
