C1 Brake conversion to self-adjust

Has anyone ever done or attempted to convert the manual brake adjust system on the 1957 Corvette to a self adjusting type as used on later Chevrolets? This would not seem too difficult on the surface but experience is the best teacher.

I can't help you with adding the self adjusters but thought that I would say that I have found the brakes easy to adjust and after having just done a complete front end rebuild including new master and slave cylinders I did the initial adjustment expecting that I would need further adjustments once I'd done a few miles but found the brakes to be perfect straight up.

If mine are typical then I would expect that the few adjustments neccessary over a period of time would be far less work than fitting up the self adjusters.

I've done the conversion on my '61. Just went to Pep Boys and bought their hardware rebuild kits for 1963 brakes and installed them. Had to cut additional slots in the driver's side backing plates (front and rear) to get access to the ajusting wheels so that they could be loosened (if necessary) for removal of those drums.
