C2 Differential front bushing

I have had my 64 on jackstands for a week now. First replacing trailing arm bushings and now a rear tranny seal. Might as well do it all while it's in the air.
One other thing I say was the lower front bushing for the differential was split in two. I've got a set on order but have run into a disapoinment in removing the old.
I thought you could push the bolt upward and replace both bushings, NOT!
As I found the bolt will hit the driveshaft. I thought you maybe able to remove one of the bolts on the differential braket but they will not slide out because of interference with the body.
Is there a trick to this? Do I have to remove the driveshaft? It looks pretty tricky to remove the rear universal joint bolts having to work around the differential bracket.

They will usually come out without removing the drive shaft. Try to remove the rubber bushing by pushing the bolt up as far as possible. Then with the bushing removed you should be able to force the snubber up a little more, enough to free the bolt.

Wayne, what about the two horizontal bolts?

I have the same problems that Gary W. describes. You can't get one or both of the two horizontal bolts out that are at the rear of the front differential support. The bolts hit the sides of the storage tub preventing removal.
