I recently purchased a set of radiator side seals for my 62. The radiator has what appear to be 3/8" holes in the sides of the radiator support though the holes in the seals appear to be about 1/4". I presume that some sort of snap in clip was used to install these seals, but none are shown in any of the catalogs. Any suggestions? I have a 61 AIM, (too cheap to buy a 62 AIM) and the seals are not shown at all for 61. I understand from Dale Pearman that the seals were perhaps a running change in 62 and used on SHP engines which were experiencing overheating under heavy duty (racing) use. I am a bit unclear as to whether these were factory installed on all 62's with SHP engines, but the holes are there in the radiator support, so I ASSUME the car must have had them originally. For whatever it's worth, the car was built 1/31/62.

Re: 62 radiator seals
All 1962 solid lifter Corvettes were made with side seals. Duntov was sent to the Phoenix proving gropund in 1961 to cure overheating encountered in street use of these high-reving Corvettes in hot environments. The radiators used in 1962 were marginal at best in dissipating the extra waste heat in going from 283 cu in to 327 cu in. Duntov submitted a request for a production part number in late summer of 1961.
The clips you require are called "Robbins Clips". Three are used on each side of the core support. They were made by Palnut.
