Re: Date for AFB carb
John, I just got the same question answered for me yesterday by a well known solid axle member. The "K" is October and the "1" is 1961. Mike Ernst had an article in the Restorer a few issues ago (maybe a year) in which he discussed 1962 carburetors. It's his case that the "B" is a revision code. I defer to him on the revision issue.- Top

Re: Date for AFB carb
As I stated yesterday in answering your e-mail, "I" was not used on aluminum components so "J" is September, and "K" would be October. The "B" revision, as I recall had to do with secondary jets.
A 3269S with a BK1 stamp would have been made in 1961 (October). This carburetor could have been used on a 300 hp or a 340 hp 1962 Corvette. The gasket arrangement was different. 300 hp Corvettes with cast iron intake used plastic spacer and galvanized heat baffle in addition to the intake gasket. Also, vacuum on a 300 hp was taken from a hollow carb stud while the 340 hp application used the same zinc plated 90 degree elbow as an FI system. (002 as I recall).
The iron manifold used an exhaust crossover for heating while the 340 hp aluminum blocked off the heat passage.
