I was wondering what the best grease is for the rear bearings on a C3. I know I posted the question earlier this week but I hit the 4 instead of the 3 key. Also, do you add extra grease to the inside of the support or is the grease in the packed bearing enough?
Valvoline offers both a full and semi-synthetic grease, which are widely available. I'd recommend the full synthetic ( check www.valvoline.com ). You don't need (or want) to pack the intertior cavity of either the front of rear bearing housings. Just thoroughly pack the bearings and smear the excess around the rollers before you install them. The excess will be squeezed out with use.
Placing a wad of grease in the cavity between the bearings will just act as a heat sink. It's neither necessary nor desirable.
