    KLEZ VIRUS

Someone on this site still has the KLEZ VIRUS in their computer.
This subject was brought up last week and was somewhat narrowed down to possibly someone who was NOT on the site during MONTEREY.
I have been getting them fairly regularly after logging onto this site. I just received another. Check your virus protection software and get it up to date...This virus won't disappear on its own...
    Thanks
    Steve

    Re: KLEZ VIRUS

Not necessarily - I get 8-10 per day, from addresses I recognize and addresses I never heard of, all of which are "proxied" by the Klez virus, most proxied from addresses that are not associated with anyone on this Board at all. If you go on-line, and anyone else (anywhere) has you in their address book, you can get the Klez-infected messages from ANYONE (I even got one the other day from myself, and mine is clean). Like you said, keep your AV virus definitions software up to date, and don't open any attachment you don't recognize as legitimate, especially if it's a .zip file of 45-60K size. Steve:

I am the originator of last week's Klez virus thread. John Waggoner and others maintain that there is no way to stop these emails, as they emanate from multiple sources, most of which are not associated with the NCRS.
John Waggoner turned me on to a great mail screening program, called Mailwasher. It is shareware, and can be downloaded for free at : www.mailwasher.net. I have installed it, and it works great.

Thanks Joe. I use Norton which has been catching and quarantining the virused memos. It also updates periodically to maintain the latest anti-virus programs as new strains appear.
