What is a good replacement lifter for a 66 327, with a Crane hydraulic cam. From an extended storage period, mine have all become very stiff, and some siezed. I seem to remember hearing something about Rhodes lifters here before, but wasn't sure. Thanks in advance, Dan

Re: C2 Lifter Replacement
Dan - Rhoads is a very good choice to give more low end torque, Dale frequently touts them. However, cams and lifters should be replaced as a set, like a ring and pinion. They break in as a set, and, I would NOT put new lifters on a used camshaft or visa-versa. This is an invitation to have lobes go away in short order. Personally, I also like to break in my cams with only outer springs during run in to minimize the spring pressure on the cam, then install the center springs. It's a recipe for long life on your cam and lifters, and, sometimes a lobe can still be lost....Craig- Top

Re: C2 Lifter Replacement
Go to a parts store and buy a can of "sticky lifter supplement". For five bucks it's worth a shot.
Also, start using HD diesel engine oil - API service category CH-4. Chevron Delo 15W-40 is my brand. CH-4 oils have a higher dose of detergent, dispersent, anti-corrosion, and anti-wear additives. These additives have been REDUCED over the years in conventional spark ignition oils because modern engines don't need as much of these additives and their combustion byproducts are tough on catalytic converters.
Our old carbureted engines that typically see low mileage accumulation need as rich an additive package as possible to ward off wear and corrosion, and CH-4 oils are the ticket.
