    C1 Tank Cover Felt

OK, so I have replaced my entire gas tank and fuel system and I'm
now ready to close it all back up. Tighten down the fiberglass
cover and....wait, there is no felt cover, I'll just order one...
    Holy smokes $28-$35 for felt.

Here's my question: can/should I just buy a piece of felt at the
fabric store for $5 or doe's the cover need to be Virgin Mohair
from the far northern reaches of outer Mongoloia?????

Actually, it's not felt - it's more like short-nap mohair on a woven backing; yeah, it's expensive - but then, what isn't for these cars?

The original was mohair. I replaced mine on my 1960 a few years ago. Had to find a high end fabric store in Highland Park, TX. It was about $45 per yard. It justs depend on how much you want to pay to get that original look!
