1961 rear strut rods

I bought a pair of rear strut rods at Carlisle.My old ones were welded together in the center of each rod. When I brought them home they were a half of an inch smaller than my old ones. The old ones measured 18 3/4 from center of the holes and the ones I bought measure 18 1/4 from center to center of holes. I think that the old ones are wrong being they have been altered. Joe,

They should not be welded together in the middle. Looks like someone was trying to either pre-load the suspension or alter the pinion angle by adding a half inch to the rod length.

A set I have measure 18.375 center to center.
