Hi Kevin, Base price in 1978 was $9351.89 for base car and $13,653.21 for the pace car. Hope this helps you, these prices are from the Corvette Black Book by Mike Antonick. This book is a great investment at only $14.95.>George

Prices sure have gone up! The window sticker for my 82 was 18 grand or so. Over $20K out the door. But a tad more expensive today!

Thanks Gentleman!,
I'm a Porsche 928 driver (Porsche V8) and we had a club meeting this afternoon. I wanted to have a comparison $'s because the 928 was the featured car at the meeting. The base price for the 928 was $28,500 back in 1978. Can you believe that? No wonder not many of them sold! It's no where near that now except for the repairs! ;-)

My friend bought a new 78 Corvette, silver anniversary paint, L-82, 4 speed, air, etc. Paid $12,500.
