I'm in the process of replacing the exhaust system on my 70. The exhaust support bracket is missing. I know it mounts somewhere near the transmission cross member and uses existing bolts but I'm not sure exactly sure. Once I have the bracket, is the mounting position obvious enough that even I can't screw it up? I think I'm getting an AIM for Christmas so I don't have to ask these kinds of questions anymore. Thanks for the help.

Re: Exhaust Suport Bracket
Automatic or 4-spd??? It makes a difference. I replaced the one on my auto a month or two ago. Basically I supported the trans with a big block of wood across the pan & a floor jack. Then I loosened the trans mount bolts from the cross member and dropped the X member down onto long bolts (didn't completely remove it). Oh, I also loosened up all the exhaust hangers aft and supported the mufflers on jack stands so that the trans X member could be dropped. Then with the X member out of the way there's 2 bolts you need to take off to completely remove the trans mount. Then you can get to the 2 bolts & french locks which hold the exhaust hanger in place. I think it's easier on a 4-spd because the orientation of the exh hanger is accessible. That's why TH400 cars have removable X members and 4 spds are welded in place. ~Juliet
