    Factory Painting 64b

Just finished stripping my 64. Was wondering about the steps used by the factory as far as painting the bodies? Exterior color, headlights on? Hood on? Dash? Was engine compartment blackout paint applied before steering column, master cylinder, ect? Thanks

Noland Adam's book on the '63-67 cars has some excellent pictures of cars on the paint line

      Steve -

Noland's book is an excellent photo reference. The body shell was complete (headlight buckets, hood, doors, top compt. lid, most of the wiring clips, etc.), but the dash was painted separately and installed after paint. Engine compartment blackout was done near the end of the Paint Shop, before any mechanical components were installed in the Trim Shop.
