    Broken bolt

Is there a secret to drilling into broken bolts ? I'm using a carbide tipped bit, and still can't make much headway. I broke the left rear body mount bolt, and I'm trying to drill a pilot hole for the eazy-out.

    Steve:

I have had some luck using a cobalt steel drill and a slow drill speed.

Some carbide tipped drills are meant only for hammer drills and will not drill in metal worth a hoot. A standard high speed steel drill bit should be good for at least 10 holes before going dull if you keep the speed down. If you are not making a good headway, you probably have a masony drill for a hammer drill.
