    Plastic Convertable Window Cleaning

I have what appears to be much like water spots, but seems to be a waxy type substance. Due to the water shortage I have been running through the car wash and wonder if it's something in their water that when dries causes a waxy buildup. Any known safe, effective product anyone have experience with.
    Thanks, Larry

Larry do not know about your window. Which is faster, your 65 or your 68?

The L-79 65' is quick but a better open road car. The torque 454 68' is awesome red light to red light. It loves the Flowmaster Mustang's. They are all flow and no go. The Camaro is now my daily driver and the Corvette my toy.

Larry I believe that Meguires has a product for cleaning the plastic rear windows. Auto Zone, Advance Auto, and Carquest sells their products. If Auto Zone does not have it on the shelf, they may be able to order it for you or you could go to Meguires home page and order it.

          Larry,

Some other products that work well are Novus Plastic Cleaner & Polish which is a step process to clean and protect. I've even used 3M Imperial Hand Glaze to clean up the window and followed up with 303 Aerospace Protectant or Eagle plastic polish with good results. Plexus is also very good but I haven't tried that one yet. I've seen in a marine shop 210 Plus & 210 Polish which is also a two step system that should work well too.

            Larry:

Try straight ammonia on an old tee shirt or soft terrycloth towel. Make sure the cloth is soaked well, and don't rub too hard, as you WILL scratch the plastic.
You might also try the same process with vinegar. Either way, rinse thoroughly and dry with a damp towel or chamois.

Meguiar's #10 and #17 are a great plastic window cleaner. One is a cleaner the other a polish. I used them both with great success on my slightly foggy and yellowed 66 convertible rear window. I don't remember which is which but I do remember the numbers. Start with a small area, perhaps in the corner, and work the cleaner first then the polish. See if you like the results.
