I have a late(July) FI car with side exhaust. I'm putting the system on the car and went to the AIM for direction. I have my old system and when I look at the AIM it seems to suggest that Extension part number 3757555 is only used on L78 & L79 cars. My car had this extension or one that looks like it, and as I recall it needed it to keep the packing from moving around. Also the L84 Non illustrated parts list calls for a spacer exhaust pipe to manifold part number 3796797. What is this and where does it go? It tough when you take these things apart 11 years ago. The old memory starts to fade. Thanks Jerry

Jerry:
The spacer you refer to is approx. 1" thick, and is used in place of the heat riser valve on the right exhaust manifold on L74 (fuel injected) cars. This is used whether or not the car has side exhaust.
The exhaust extensions slide into the manifold ends of the engine pipes, the composite donut seal goes on next, then the flange is mated to the manifold studs. I am fairly certain that these are also used whether or not you have side exhaust. Your pipe diameter is 2 1/2" O.D.. Also, I recommend stainless steel attaching hardware for the engine pipe-to-manifold connection.
