Bought my 66 coupe in 82 without any idea then about purity. I later found out that the engine was a 62 327 casting. This car has C60, N40 and K19. My question is what engine did this car originally have? Base 327 or 327/350? In references I have, it seems that that these three options were not provided with the base engine but only with the 327/350. The thing also has M20, J50, G81(3:36). When I got the car the K19 stuff(pump, hoses, pipes, brackets, etc.) was in a box. The manifolds are drilled for K19(had plugs) and I had the K19 pump rebuilt. Will the 62 block casting accommodate the K19 mounting brackets. Since this is an incorrect engine anyway, am I wasting my time trying to hook up the K19 items. Thanks in advance for any help. Cliff

The 3 options that you mentioned were available with both the base 300 hp engine and the L-79 350 hp. So, the fact that you have these 3 options tells us nothing about which engine that it originally might have had installed. I'd suggest that you look at the tachometer. Assuming that it hasn't been changed, this will tell you which 327 was originally installed. A 300 hp will have a 5300 RPM beginning for the red zone; the 350 hp will have a 6000 RPM beginning of the red zone.
The fact that the car had an M-20 (wide ratio) 4 speed probably indicates that it was originally a 300 hp. But, the M-20 was also available with the 350 hp engine. In either case, a 3.36:1 axle ratio would have been the standard ratio supplied with that transmission.
As far as the K-19 goes, the pump support bracket does not mount to the block, per se. One mounting point is the water pump right side up bolt and the other mounting point is the intake manifold right forward bolt. So, the block is not involved in the pump mounting system or any other portion of the K-19 mounting system. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

C60 and N40 were available together on the base engine after late November, 1965, when that order restriction was lifted, so the base engine is a possibility. The location of the orange and red zones on the tach might be a clue (assuming it hasn't been changed).- Top
