    C2 Exhaust replacement

I would like to replace the exhaust system on my 67 327/350. Current system seems odd- right and left under car pipes do not match- the right side has "corrugation or ridges" at all of the bends, left has none. Right side seems to jump in size under the passenger seat- left side does not. I believe the swedging from 2 to 2 1/2 takes place at the mainfolds.

Does this system sound strange ? Any suggestions for as a close to stock system including mufflers ? Aluminum, stainless or standard carbon steel ?

    Any advice is much appreciated.

    Mike -

I just put a Paragon complete aluminized system on my '67 327/300, and I'm very pleased with it - not a wrinkle or corrugation in it anywhere, everything fit up very nicely. It comes with regular "saddle" clamps, which aren't correct - I got the "guillotine"-style clamps from LICS for $5.00/pr. (you need 2 pair).

They also have (by special order) full systems made from plain carbon steel that have the rear sections of exhaust pipe welded to the muffler inlet pipes a la original, but they'll rust in a hurry and you'll have to wait 2-3 weeks to have it made up.

The original pipes were mandrel-bent (as the Paragon pipes are) and had no wrinkles or corrugations at the bends.

      John,

Can you compare the Paragon system to one from Corvette Central? Or do you not have any experience with theirs?

      Thanks,

        Patrick -

Don't know who makes CC's system for them, or how it fits - the only one I've worked with is the Paragon package; after dry-fitting it, all I had to do was shorten the right side exhaust pipe (crossmember to muffler inlet) about 3/8" to get zero stress on the rear muffler hanger. Other than that, it fell together very nicely.

          John,

CC makes their own. I'm not sure how its status is re: flat vs. round pipes, correctness, etc. on midyear pipes. I have one of their systems on Dad's 72 and it fit fine. I was able to install it without difficulty, and that was even before we got the lift.
