    C2 Blown fuse problems

I was recently checking my fuses on my 66 hoping it might solve my fuel gage problem, but it checked OK, however the fuse for the Stop,License and courtesy or dome lamp was blown. I replaced it with the recommended SAE 20 AMP fuse. The problem is when I open and close the door the fuse blows. I have no electrical experience. Any direction on how to troubleshoot this problem would be greatly appreciated. I have all the manuals and wiring diagrams. Also, does the stop on the fuse box & owners manual refer to the brake lights?

You have more or less already gone a long way toward diagnosis. If it only blows when the doors are opened, then the problem obviously is in that area. I would first look at all of the interior bulbs and make sure that they are of the correct two prong type and are installed correctly. Now with all of them removed, reinstall a fuse and see if it again blows. If not reinstall the bulbs one at a time and retry.

Rich, Wayne's answer brings a flash back. I had my teenage son help my with changing light bulbs in my car. I gave him the application list for the bulbs and told him to go at it. Well he sure put a one prong bulb in a two prong socket. Everytime I hooked the battery up that circuit blew. I think it took two of us two days to figure that one out.
