      Re: What about the Pontiacs?????

The bottom color on most Lexuses (or is that Lexi?) is gold. And it looks good. Why can't the General do it.

For that matter, I went by my Chevy store today. Saw the so-called silver badge on a 2003. Ugh. Just a light grey plastic stating 50th Anniversary.

John? Could you call your friend Lutz and find out what really happened?

      Geezer

I'm glad I asked this question. George Claery seems to have really said it all. "Something is very wrong at GM." If Gold is a problem why not White/Red. Even for a limited number of cars it would have been nice.

          Ralph,

The beauty of it is that making a whilte/red/black 2003 is a lot cheaper. Just order one and swap the emblems! For $5000 less you've got the car that should have been!

              Geez -

See my post above from Monday, "Why Isn't It Special?" - the concept/design/release of the 50th Anniversary car was done (and locked in) before Lutz arrived on the scene - too late to change it. It wasn't too late for the C6 changes he wanted, however, which delayed the C6 program launch by six months (although the GM P.R. guys continue to "put the spin" on that one, saying that the launch date "hadn't been defined yet") It would be a lot simpler just to say "yes, the introduction date has been changed in order to incorporate several design and product improvements", but then they'd have to admit that the product development process is flexible. Just ask the guys from Buick - they've had four major programs completely cancelled and re-started from scratch since Lutz arrived ("Biggest design disappointments I've seen since the Aztek - can't imagine what they were thinking" - Lutz quote in an "Automotive News" interview last month). He's a breath of fresh air and has revolutionized the internal GM product development process, but it'll take a while to start to see the results in the showrooms.
