While looking for a rattle that was coming from my rear end somewhere I found that the center plate was not attached to the crossmember of the car. Had exhaust replaced last year don't know what happened but center plate was just left laying wedged between leaf spring and heat shield. The bolts were missing. Mid america shows bolts for 63 thru 77 the bolts are listed at 9/16. Mine is a 1979 shows nothing for it. I think they are smaller for my car does anyone know the right size for my car and the proper length? They only show bolts that go thru the top of the cross member not going thru underneath which is what I need. Sorry for the long winded message just wanted to be clear.

The bolts which you require are 7/16-14 X 3-5/16" (3-1/2" will work ok). You can use GM #25525860, but these are about 5 bucks each, GM list. So, I'd get 4 hardware store Grade 8 bolts of 3-1/2" length and you should be all set.
It's hard to believe that some klutz would have left the spring mounting plate to hang, but "wonders never cease".In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
