I'm trying to hang the drivers door on my '63 coupe with no success. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Bill Lehmann

Re: Fitting C2 Doors
Bill:
If you have the Nolan Adams resto book you may allready know about early coupe door problems, but some other things learned over the years that will help are: Change the bushings first before spending effort on fitting.
Use shims in same locations as factory unless other reasons preclude.
Mount the hinge to the body first (no slack in bolts) move and
retighten if needed.
Shims between body and hinge or door and hinge will tilt door in
or out at top as needed.
Door rivets at inner metal suports can be loose or broken.
(check by grasping door at top and bottom and twisting in and
out at the front half of door after new bushings are in).
Fit may never be perfect at door without body-
work (will be a compromise)
Be sure body is not twisted or in a bind.
Make sure to use the latches while adjusting door fit.

Re: Fitting C2 Doors
Here is a thought which is a little late for you but may help others in the future.
I drilled a 1/8" hole throught all the door brackets and spacers BEFORE I took them apart. I am hoping that these holes will become 'Locating" holes when I
re-assemble using 1/8 " drill bits as locating pins throught the holes. The doors were properly aligned before dissassembly so I am keeping my fingers crossed that they go back together in the same exact location prior to removal!
If I were to do it again I think double 1/8" holes in each bracket might be even better.- Top
