I am looking at the BREAKERless SE Electronic Ignition Conversion Kit. Is sounds great. Does anyone have any experience with it? Any feedback would be appreciated...

In my opinion, THE ONLY WAY TO FLY! As a bonus, you get virtual TI performance with a standard coil and MUCH more reliable than TI, even with the solid state amp module. This is a "no-brainer".In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Thoughts on BREAKEless SE Ignition...
There have been quite a few comments over at www.corvetteforum.com about the Pertronics kit. It seems to be a love/hate relationship. They either work well forever or they fail within a few months. Do a search at CF and read about it. The kit that is sold by Lectric Limited seems to have avoided any negative comments. Once I am through with getting my 72 judged, that is the way I am headed.

I don't like the Hall Effect sensors. Reliability is a big issue here. The Delco ceramic magnet and star wheel system when used with a standard HEI module provides the best ignition system available for classic cars.
Delco made distributors in the very large standard style HEI systems as well as a Corvette tach drive look-alike! That's what I've used on ALL my gas powered vehicles since 1979.
Can't beat it! With aftermarket wires I've run spark plug gaps of up to 0.125 inches! (NOT a recommended gap)

Yes to the Hall Effect pick-ups. You can purchase and use a Delco tach drive distributor that appears stock on the outside but contains a magnet and star-wheel reluctor on the inside. An HEI module mounted on a Radio Shack heat sink can be hidden to cause the ignition system to appear as stock. This is by far the BEST way to go but the distributors can be pricy.
I drove my 1976 4 x 4 chevy pick-up at least 500,000 miles, a 62 Corvette 60,000 miles and my regular FI driver at least 300,000 miles with these systems. Other than caps and rotors, I've NEVER had a problem. I used to employ WalMart HEI modules at $14.95 each!

Re: Thoughts on BREAKEless SE Ignition...
Sorry to be such a newbie here but...
Where can one pick-up and how much for this HEI tack drive distributer?
Ditto on the HEI module?
Ditch my stock coil?
What is the wiring senario?
Why not just go with the Lectric Limited solution?
Thanks- Top

Re: Thoughts on BREAKEless SE Ignition...
years ago the aftermarket HEI modules had no built in voltage regulation and when used on high rpm engines they would blow out from voltage spikes. i chased this for a time till bill howell at the GM tech center told me what was up.- Top
