I think we all agree that some late 1956 single four cars used the 3735448 intake. I have been told that this intake was a Corvette only intake, and not used on passenger cars. Can anyone confirm this?
I have just run across a 3735448 intake that has a two digit date code representing the year (i.e. 56 versus 6). The complete date code is H 10 56 (August 10th, 1956). That would seem to indicate that the manifold was cast in Tonowanda, NY as opposed to Flint, MI. However, I think we believe that Corvette engine parts were cast in Flint, MI in 1956.
Questions:
1. Was the 3735448 intake also used on passenger cars in 1956?
2. Is it possible that the 3735448 intake cast in Tonowanda was used on a 1956 Corvette engine?
3. Could this intake be an over-the-counter replacement part? The date code of August 10th, 1956 makes this possible, but I think I recall that 1956 production was still running on August 10th, 1956.
4. Anyone know for sure what date 1956 Corvette production actually stopped?
