My wife's 85 Vette has an electrical problem. The dash goes blank and she says that the wipers and radio are intermitting also. If you push on the dash panel it will come back on. I have checked the connector on the side of the dash panel and it seems to be in tight. I don't know if the three are connected through a common connector or relay? Does anyone have any ideas?
This is a very common problem with those models. Usually when this happens, the signal and high beam indicators also come on when they normally would not be on. The fix is simple actually, but you will have to remove the guage cluster and open it up. There are two large circuit boards that stack on each other. You will find the connection between them is bad. They just plug together and gets hot on the ground lug. Solder in a wire around this connection and reinstall. Check the bulbs while you are in there.
