    Midyear windshield molding

I'm sorry. I missed one very important parameter in my analysis of the possible combinations for the 69 Corvette----exterior color. There were 10 choices available. That means that the total number of possible combinations is raised to 78,643,200. But after a million, who's counting?

    Midyear windshield molding

Has anyone had a problem installing the windshield molding on a midyear coupe? My problem is the molding doesn't seem to set flush against the body. I have installed NEW windshield, NEW gasket, NEW NOS molding, BUT repro. clips. The molding on the top and sides are the problem. HELP Mike

      Mike,

I just finished the same job on my 65 coupe last week except used the original moldings. The repro clips worked fine with the original moldings. Used the heel of my hand and applied a firm "punch" to set the moldings home. You shouldn't need more than a few "punches" to set the moldings. Place a small towel between the molding and your hand. Also lubricate both the moldings the clips with a little soapy water.

Mike, I too am about to install the moldings on a 67 coupe. I have new repro clips from Long Island Corvette. At Carlisle this summer I stopped by the Paragon booth to pick up some corner moldings and one of the guys there told me to be careful with the repro clips and that some might have to be filed down to exact size. You might want to give them a call and ask what more they can tell you. They have always been very helpful when I have called with questions. If you learn anything interesting please post again as this is a common question these days.

Mike, how did you make out with your windshield molding installation? I was advised to test fit the windshield moldings BEFORE I installed the new glass and I was doing that last night with the clips loosened a bit. The side moldings seem to require a hard push to the bottom of the clip to sit flush with the body.
