Are there more than one supplier, or is is just one, marketing through all the catalogs? One twist is I want a '55 system with the 4" round mufflers, and all the catalogs seem to be trying to sell me oval mufflers.

Dave I used aluminnze pipes and flow master mufflers made up at our local muffler shop. They are so sweeeeet. I have never bought a set from any dealer that din't need bending and tweeking from a muffler shop, so why not just have them make up what you need.- Top

Dave,
I used a Corvette Central exhaust system with the round mufflers on my 56 and it went very well. Yes, I did have to do a little remedial bending and tweaking but it was not any big deal. I suspect, although I am not sure, that there are other manufacturers of systems - but my experience with the CC setup was good. Steve- Top

Dave:
One thing to remember-there is no donut on the headpipe of the 56 system. The collar that bolts up to the exhaust manifold may have to be reemed a bit to make it fit right(I had to do this on the passenger side headpipe of my system).- Top

Search on "allen" and "corvette" and "exhaust."
I bought mine direct from him on the recommendations of many others. Fit perfect. I'll bet he sells pipes to the usual Corvette parts vendors, so check around for discounts and prices, if you're buying other stuff.- Top

Dave --
Based on a bunch of research, I bought a complete system for my 57, including round, "off-road" mufflers from an outfit called ****CO (no kidding). The system is excellent, but I understand that shortly after my buy, ****CO went to fabricating VW systems exclusively, and sold their Corvette business, to, I believe, Allen's.
Good luck, Cal- Top
