    windshield glass and installation

I am putting my 69 back together and I need to install a new windshield any suggestions on wear to get one. Will a local glass company be able to handle it. What should I use to replace the grey dope that was used under the windshield corner mouldings and t-bat stainless.
    Thank you.

    Cal -

Any competent auto glass shop can handle the windshield installation - it's a pretty straightforward urethane adhesive job (make sure your corner moldings are installed - you can't get to the screws with the glass in place). The sealer you're looking for is known in the trade as "dum-dum"; any automotive paint supply store has it as 3M "Strip-Caulk" or equivalent.

John is right about the corner mouldings being on before the winshield goes in and also check ALL retainer clips also because these also are not accessible with the windshield in. If you are not welding in any new frame pieces evrything should go back together easily but if anything was replaced test fit every thing before the windshield goes in so you can make adjustments now. I just did this job this spring after welding in new corners and upper frame piece. I had a difficult time getting it all back correctly and was lucky I decided to test everything before I had the winshield installed.
      Hope this helps.

I just had one of the local glass replacement places tell me that LOF was taken over by their parent company, Pilkington and that logo was all that was now available and LOF was no longer available. I am probably going to get PPG logo at this point. Any comments on this?
