    C1 hood latches not grabbing

recently purchased a 58 that appears fairly original. The hood latches don't seem to grab enough to hold the hood down fully against the bumper stops. The female parts are black and appear older/original. The male parts are silver and appear newer;the ribbing is not worn. is there an adjustment that can be made to give the female latch more of an angle so that it grabs the male better (try to keep it clean here, gentlemen)? Do the female latch holes wear out? If so, does anyone know where to buy just the lever/hole part w/o buying the whole female ass'y. I degreased the parts which helped a little but not enough. Thanks, Ken

Installing a washer under or between the fire wall top area of the female will change the angle so that the male pin will hold.Same with early 53-57.

      Ken:
The catalog houses sell a serrated pin you can use in place of the original. I know it is not quite correct, but after trying the method described by Ray, I finally got the serrated pin and now have no problems.
