I have a 1981 Corvette built in St. Louis for expot to Canada. Can anyone tell me if Canadian cars had diffrent head light bulbs I have talked to the last 2 owners I am the 3rd and they never replaced the bulbs. I have a lowbeam that went out the local dealer & my manual say I need Delco replacement bulb 4000 low beam. The car seems to have come from the factory with Power Beam 2c1 as the lowbeams and Halogen s for high beams. The dealer here in St. Louis tells me halogens were not an option in 81. Anyone else out there with a late model Canadian Car??

Re: 1981 Candian Headlights?
Jum, sounds like it's time to invest in a support libarary for 'baby'.... The 1980-81 Technical Information Manual and Judging Guide states:
"Low beam lamps for 1980-82 are Guide 'Power Beam' lamps. The words are placed in the center of the lens in a split ring with the word 'Power' in the upper portion of the circle and 'Beam' in the lower portion. High beam lamps are Halogen Sealed Beams by General Electric. The word 'HALOGEN' appears in a rectangular area in the center of the lens. Replacement lamps my have 'HALOGEN' on a stick-on label on the lens. Some known original cars have been observed with a Wagner lamp, rather than a Power Beam, in the driver's low beam position."
This description covers all '80-82 Corvette, including export models....- Top

Re: 1981 Candian Headlights?
Hi Tim, Ask the Chevrolet Dealer if he was in business in 1979 and selling new Corvettes, because halogen high beam head lamps were introduced as standard in all 1979 Corvettes. I had a 1979 and a 1980 and both had halogen high beams. Only high beams not low beams. Also in the 1981 sales catalog it states under electrical Standard Equipment: dual-unit retractable headlamps with halogen high beams. Hope this helps, like always the dealer does not know what he's talking about. It's a shame.>George- Top
