I have a replacement Brake Light switch for my 1966 which is white plastic, approximately 3" long. Was the original a shorter metal unit PART # 1993509 ?

Re: 1966 Brake Light Switch
Peter - To add to Gary's response, the '66 Corvette AIM lists a P/N 3825257 Switch Asm- Stop Lamp and 1993509 Opt. (optional). The 1993509 swich was available as a Delco Remy and Chevrolet SERVICE part and is the metal switch. I'm assuming that the 3825257 is the plastic switch but I'm not sure I have seen one or can specifically describe it. The '67 Corvette AIM also shows 2 stop lamp switches, P/Ns 3886907 and 3886906. The 3886906 switch was available as a SERVICE part and is a plastic switch. Interesting to note is that the 1967 Chevrolet Parts and Accesories Catalog (Oct. 1, 1966) lists P/N 1993509 for 58-65 PASS, CORVETTE and P/N 3886906 for 65 PASS and 66 CORVETTE. Later Corvette parts books show P/N 3886906 for 53-67 CORVETTE. So, it sounds like a "pick your poison" situation but if you have a plastic switch in the car now your you might want to make sure it's not the '67 configuration for judging. If you need info on the configuration of the '67 3886906 give a shout. Pete- Top
