Big block oil pan

Is there any difference in factory big block oil pans? 1967 427-390 Hp;
1967 L-88: 1965 396-425, etc, etc, or are they all the same? Any difference in Chevelle, Corvette, Impala pans? Thanks, Rex

I believe the big block Corvette pans are essentially the same. A Corvette pan isn't even close to going in a Chevelle or Impala chassis. Judging from my 68 Biscayne, the Impala and other full size Chevy's may have the least pan room of anything in the bunch. With the generic pan that GM now offers not fitting in the chassis, I ended up with a Miloden pan for a Nova, with it's slot for drag link clearance in the Biscayne.

There are minor configuration differences over the 1965 to 1974 big block period, but the basic Corvette big block oil pans are the same throughout the period. Early models had a hole in the front oil pan seal surface for the screw used to secure the pan to the front cover and about 1970, or so, the corner rail reinforcements were deleted.

The Corvette big block oil pans were unique to Corvettes and were not used on any other Chevrolet chassis. The Corvette pan is still available from GM under GM #14091356.
