The metal headlight support beam that runs the width of the front end has become detached on the left (driver)side and hangs down between 1/4" and 1/2". The effect of this was a very nice looking scrape when the headlights were activated. How is this bar attached, and how would I go about repairing it. I can't see any rusted areas on it.
Thanks for any help or info I might get on this.
Chris
This is a fairly common problem on 73+ C3s. This reinforcment is bonded to the hood surround panel and, with time, the bonding agent deteriorates and the reinforcement seperates from the surround. The fix is to rebond it. However, I think that it's best to try to remove the entire reinforcement, clean both surfaces, and re-bond it. I suppose, though, that you could try to just rebond the seperated side; you don't have a lot to lose.
Bonding agent is available from most of the Corvette vendors.
