I have a riveted balancer/pulley that I believe came off of a '57 283. Are the dimensions the same for this combination as the '60 Corvette 283 balancer with bolt on pulley? I am trying to see if I can use the riveted on my '60 or if I will have to buy the balancer and pulley seperately. Thanks in advance, Jason
Jason, I can't answer your question on the 60 dims, but my 56 crank pulley is 6 & 3/4 inch diameter. I know it dosen't relate to your question but what is the diameter of your generator pulley? I think mine might be the too small at 3 & 5/16. thanks,
Joe
Hi Jason -
Just fyi, the 57 JG indicates that the 283 HP engine used a bolt-on pulley, not the riveted version, so yours is probably from a base, 245, or 250 HP engine. Most 270's were also apparently riveted. (Mine is.)
