The 67 Tech Manual describes the big block oil fill cap as having the letter 'S' stamped into the center rivet and next to the center rivet is the Stant trademark symbol. I have seen examples where both symbols are on the top of the cap. There is, however, a fill cap listed on Ebay ( 1859097063 ) in which the rivet head is on the inside of the cap. Any comments as to originality would be appreciated.

Re: 65-67 oil fill cap
John------
I've seen the cap on eBay. My opinion is that this is NOT the same as the original oil fill cap used for 65-67 big blocks. For one thing, this cap appears to be PAINTED black. I believe the originals had some other sort of "blackish" surface finish like a dark "anodize". It was smooth and THIN, not thick like this painted cap.
Also, I believe that the EXTERNAL rivet on the originals was "roundish".
Besides all of this, I don't think that the original caps were ever available in SERVICE in exactly the same configuration used in PRODUCTION. So, an "NOS" cap is not possible.
I find it hard to believe that this cap could be bid up to $75, currently. But, maybe I'm wrong. I don't think so, though. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Joe - it looks as if the rivet is installed inverted, and, as you say, the top is painted vs the greenish-black hue with plating. Guess what, today it is bid to $102.50, and 18 hours to go.....amazing!....nothing like Ebay!....Craig- Top
