I received a "Kit" for Ignition Shielding and discovered NO instructions. Any help on where I can find one printed out? Also, does the spark plug covers go on and then the long high chrome covers go on over them? Very confusioning. Any assistance is highly appreciated! Thanks everyone! Don

Re: 1962 Ignition Shielding
Don,
I looked through several reference books that I own. The Assembly Instruction Manual has a diagram in Section 102, Sheet 5.00. The AIM is available in the NCRS Online Store. It should be in your reference library.
The best diagram I found was on pg 86 of the Corvette Central '53-'62 catalog. It shows every piece and the placement in relation to the other pieces.
I can tell you that the heat shields go on first. There are four of them. They are held in place by the manifold attaching parts. After they are attached you attach the chrome covers over them with 2 chrome wing bolts. Then the uprights on the left and right, are held on at the bottom with chrome wing bolts and hex head bolts hold them and the top chrome cover over the distributor.
If you have all of the parts some trial and error should lead you to a correct installation. You will need the bracket that holds the coil, and the wire loom, and the right hand upright shield. There is also a bracket that holds the wire loom on the left side that also accepts the bolt that holds the top shield on.
Hope this is some help.Administrator

Re: 1962 Ignition Shielding
John,
I can't thank you enough for all your time and information you provided me. I truly appreciate your inputs. It will help tremendously and I'll follow your advice on the locations and suggestions. It's people like you that make this site the bible for vette owners like myself. I thought I learned enough when I did my '66 Coupe but I had alot done prior to it coming home for me to finish. Again, John, thank you and I just want you to know that your kindness and information has helped a fellow vette nut through the typical "restoration blues". Take care and keep in touch...Don- Top

Re: 1962 Ignition Shielding
Don, John made one typo when he said the heat shields are held on by the manifold hardware. He ment to say that the lower IGNITION shield BRACKETS are held on by the manifold bolts. The heat shields are attached to the block with 1/4-20X1/2" bolts They should be installed first. When you get to the lower ignition (chrome) shields. The brackets go under the inner bolts on each end of the manifold. Assemble these loosly and then install the shields. After everything is assembled, tighten the manifold bolts. As John pointed out, the picture will be in the options section of the AIM, under "radio".- Top
