    59 Radius Rod Bracket Installation

I'm trying to install the radius rod brackets on my 59. The were cut off by a previous owner who must have had ladder bars attached at some point in time. The car was raced once upon a time. I have the frame completely stripped down and in primer and want to weld the brackets on before painting. Is there a measurement I can make that will correctly position the brackets before welding? Or is there a procedure I can follow for bracket installation? I didn't see anything related to bracket location measurements in the AIM. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Scott

Re: 59 Radius Rod Bracket Installation

I'll give it a shot in trying to describe the location.
Facing the frame on the drivers side, the bracket is located on the outside of the frame at the radius where the frame rail kicks up. The lower slotted hole (not the slotted hole where the radius rod studs goes) on the bracket is what we will located to. Lay a straightedge horizontally on the top of the front spring bracket that is welded to the frame. The center of the slotted hole will be centered vertically with the bottom edge of the straightedge and 5.5 inches rearward from the downward facing lip on the rear (of the car) edge of the spring bracket. The radius rod bracket will be positioned(angled) so that the lower left hand corner is located 8.375 inches from the vertical part of the spring bracket that is weled to the frame.
I hope I'm clear enough for you to visualize. If not, we'll try again.
