    window-C2

Hello, I am having problems with 65 roadster driverside window, not power
window. Seems to crank up fine, but on lowering immediately moves off track
from the door post track toward the interior of the car(that is , toward the steering column). It feels "loose" although manual pressure on the window against
the post corrects the problem. I have noticed this problem on other 60's
vehicles but seems window glass was riveted to frame preventing adjustment.
Weatherstripping is okay. Any thoughts?solutions? Thanks.

Assuming that the channels are properly installed, the window adjustment is basically how it is mounted in the channel. It should be mounted so that the window sticks out beyond the channel about 1/2 inch in the front. This drives the rear guide back into the rear channel and makes it tight.

      John,

I had the same problem. Turned out the cause was my window was sliding in the channel that holds the bottom of the glass. After fixing that issue I also replaced the front rigid run and rear channel tape, adjusted the rear run and window stop, cleaned and lubed where required and my windows now fit tight and work right. Big difference.

The windows is basically set in the lower channel with a rubber like tape resulting in a friction fit (no rivets). Once you remove the door panel you can get at the scissor mechanism to remove the window assy. As you say the window is probably floating in that bottom window channel as a result of deterioration of the rubber-like window tape OR the channel is splayed open. I positioned the window in the track by rolling up the track and placing the window up against the front post and then marking the windows position on the track. Hopefully you get the idea.
