Re: 63 Fan clutch bearing install?
Basically, the answer is you don't.... There's one guy out there who, along with his retired ME father, did the reverse engineering sufficient to understand how to 'open' the various styles of fan clutches (Schwitzer-bar; Eaton/Delco-Remy-coil) to perform a restoration service. They've spent untold man hours learning the trade secrets of factory original bearing technology as well as clutch fluid specifics. They treat this as a trade secret and provide a fan clutch restoration service.
The price of their service is so ridiculously CHEAP ($150) that you'd be foolish to try to re-reverse engineer the +10 years of know how and special parts/tooling they've invested (compare this to something like $240 GM List for a generic replacement fan clutch). Pick just about any archieve and search for either 'Fred Oliva' or 'Vintage Automotive Research' to hook up. Almost all of their work is now word-of-mouth vs. paid ad insertion.- Top
