Have a 1958 that was removed and replaced on the frame with no shims. In preparing to properly shim the body to the frame, I noticed that the body mount bracket located on the drivers side just past the door is missing. The other three are present. It appears to me that the bracket is riveted to the body (inverted "L" shape), and it is bolted to the frame. As I understand it, the bracket serves the purpose of securing the body, to which it is attached, to the frame. I go into this detail because when I called a resource to get information about the particular bracket that is missing, the tech guy said the bracket should be installed by welding it to the frame. Could someone tell me what the scoop is here? Am I mistaken that the bracket needs to be riveted to the body and not welded to the frame? Thanks.
