    Noisey valve train....

I recently rebuild a 365hp SB using: 11:1 CR; Comp Cams 12-212-2 (grind CS 280H-10)hydraulic cam; Crane 99277 anti pump-up hydraulic lifters; Comp 1412 roller tip rockers; Comp 981 springs; and stock pushrods. After setting valve lash multiple times the valve train still makes A LOT of tapping noise. A crane cam tech tells me this is to be expected given the bumpie cam. BTW, my oil pressure is lowerer than I would like, ranging from 15 to 40psi (hot).

Aside from the tappet noise the motor seems to lack low and mid range balls.

Given all the raves about the LT-1 cam I may switch over this winter.

    Any thoughts???

    Thanks

12-212-2 cam needs gears and headers to work. the power range is 2000-6000 RPM

I have the same comp cam in my iroc-z 350 1970 chevelle motor. Mine too is a little noisy but it has been like this since new. It has good low end but is the best when it hits 3000 rpm. I also have a wiand team g high rise manifold. I have a melling high volume oil pump that is about 40 at idle and 75 when you get on it. I think your guage is probably reading wrong or you could ook another guage to it to test it. I have 373 gears in mine when i had 256 gears in it was a dog off the line. Check your gear ratio. Eric
